Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP)

Dr. Joseph Lennon, a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, loves to work with all kinds of sports injuries, whether with serious athletes or weekend warriors.

What is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP)?

A Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician is a licensed chiropractor that has completed a minimum of 100 hours of postgraduate education in the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physicians program from an accredited chiropractic college and passed a written examination administered by the ACBSP. The ACBSP is the certifying agency for chiropractic sports medicine and the sole chiropractic sports medicine certifying agency recognized by the American Chiropractic Association. Since 1980, the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians(ACBSP) has led the development of sports medicine certification and has managed a world-class credentialing process that ensures certified sports chiropractors meet competency standards to effectively work with and treat athletes and those engaged in athletic activities. In addition, the ACBSP offers continuing education and research seminars to facilitate the dissemination of the latest scientific knowledge, treatment trends, and best practices for patient care. “Promoting the highest standards of excellence and clinical competence for chiropractors specializing in sports medicine and physical fitness” is the goal of the ACBSP. Almost all CCSPs have worked with numerous sports teams and athletes as part of their education, and most NFL, MLB, and NBA teams have official team chiropractors that have their CCSP certification. CCSPs are an integral part of the official Medical Staff of the U. S. Olympic Committee.
